They watch and they wait for any opportunity to descend into the mortal world, and finish what had been begun.Ĭlimate-Chaotic Wasteland and Wasteland would be the only fitting ones for such an evil race but it would have to go further. However, these Daemons could not be slain (can be given a ‘true death’ but that is very difficult), only banished, and would soon return. To the modern day, Chaos still enters the world but the Vortex and the weak levels of magic (other than the Chaos Wastes) means that Daemons cannot enter the world for long before being banished back. The power of the ritual was great and despite Slann lending magical aid to it and the Elves on Ulthuan, the spell only partially worked (with Caledor and his Archmages trapped and Chaos still able to enter the world but only at the Northern and Southern Chaos Wastes). The Elf, Caledor Dragontamer alongside another Elven Archmages conducted a ritual to create the Great Vortex while Aenerion the Defender bought them time.

With desperation settling in, the Elves decided upon one last plan the Great Vortex. Lizardmen and Elves held massive battles in holding back the Daemon tide but it was unrelenting. The Lizardmen, with their Slann, stopped the entire destruction of the world by sealing parts of the reality rent but they could not permanently close the Chaos tide. The Old Ones disappeared, their fate unknown. Beastmen were created and seeds of Chaos were planted to corrupt even more (such as parts of the races of Men with the first Daemon Prince Be'lakor). Great havoc was wreaked upon the lands and seas and the Chaos Moon Morrslieb was created above the northern Polar Gate. Whether by an attack or a structural failure, the Polar Gates collapsed and Chaos ushered into the world with the connection to the Realms of Chaos created (the Chaos Wastes were created). Distressing signs were coming from the Polar Gates and these structures led to The Great Catastrophe. They also created the Polar Warp Gates, one at the Northern Pole and another Southern Pole and from these two colossal structures, the Old Ones drew energy from the Warp for power and a means to traverse the stars. They transform the world and created many races upon it (Lizardmen being the first). The race known as the Old Ones arrived at the Warhammer World thousands of years ago in silver ships. Lore and Background (a basic version, a more complete version can be found on the wiki)-The story of The Coming of Chaos is an important one as it a story that has the starting transformation of the world but also its inevitable end. Daemons of Chaos were so overpowered in 7th Edition (when they were made their own army) that they actually broke the game but the 8th Edition made them more random and sporadic to balance them out. Now, I will be discussing the Daemons of Chaos as one faction as they were on the 8th Edition tabletop (like all other factions) instead of the 4 Chaos God rumour that was taken from the Russian leak. Welcome to Hell! The last major faction will be discussed here and will follow a similar format to the Chaos Dwarf and Ogre Kingdoms Speculation and Roster.
